Clients - Guidelines

We send letters to every client that includes the guidelines reviewed with them over the telephone when they first register.

This insures the likelihood that the client will follow the directions we give them.  These include:

  • Requesting rides a minimum of seven working days in advance
  • Requesting and canceling rides as quickly as possible so we can notify the volunteer.
  • Paying for parking fees.
  • Expecting the volunteer driver/companion to call the night before to confirm the appointment is still scheduled, and to get directions to the client's home.
  • making a donation to the organization, if they wish, but not "tipping" the driver.

We especially stress that clients should not ask volunteers to take them to run errands after the appointment, except to pick up prescriptions phoned to the pharmacy in advance.

The use of these guidelines has greatly enhanced communications between clients, volunteers, and staff.
